Helping Children – Practical Tools for Engaging and Supporting

Participants of this workshop will develop competency in engaging and communicating with children and their natural support systems. Drawing from the expressive arts (play, art, drama) and integrative body-based techniques (mindfulness, sensory, and whole-brain activities); practical skills to incorporate into working with children will be presented.

Challenging Behaviours in Youth – Strategies for Intervention

This workshop will review challenging behaviours related to aggression, non-compliance and attention-seeking, and will provide a framework for intervening with these behaviours. They will gain a clear understanding of how to structure interactions for positive outcomes and will be provided with a set of tools to bring out the best in youth who exhibit challenging behaviours.

Bullying Intervention Strategies – Responding for Prevention

Effective responses to bullying need to address both its impacts and root causes, while also holding perpetrators of bullying meaningfully accountable for their actions. This workshop will push beyond attitudes and responses that rely solely on isolation and punishment and move towards more restorative responses.

Mindfullness Counselling Strategies – Activating Compassion and Regulation

This workshop is designed to teach participants how to facilitate the development of these skills with their clients, and develop their own capacity for using mindfulness-based strategies in their counseling work.
