What is the Primary Caregiver Tax Credit? Do I qualify for it?

Assistance may be available for you if you are the primary caregiver for your child, whatever their age.  This is in the form of Primary Caregiver Tax Credit.  For this tax credit the person must require care assessed as Level 2 or higher under the Manitoba Homecare program.  Your CSS worker can assist you with this assessment.  If your child is an adult, there is an application process that you must go through that includes confirmation by a clinician that your adult child needs your support as a primary caregiver at the prescribed level.  More information on how to apply can be found here: http://www.gov.mb.ca/finance/tao/caregiver.html
